How To Become A Copywriter (With Little or Zero Experience) - Healthy Articlese
So you want to become a
copywriter my question is why do you want to become a copywriter is it because
you know that copywriting is one of the highest demanding professions in
today's world that it is a profession that doesn't require a college degree a lot of capital to get started or is it because you know that it is a skill
copywriting is a skill that could make you a comfortable six-figure income
working from home or anywhere in the world that it is a skill that once you
master it you could write your own destiny regardless today I'm gonna give you
three tips don't matter if you are considering copywriting as a career or
you're already a copywriter but you kind of want to take your income to that
next level are you ready tip number one make sure that you choose one market to
start off with you see a lot of copywriters one of the mistakes that they make
are they try to be everything to everyone right imagine you're sitting down with
a potential a client who wants to hire you for copywriting and they ask you so
what's your expertise what can you write on what kind of topics what kind of
industries do you focus on you say oh yeah I could write for any industries I
could write for the fitness industry I could write for there the business the industry I could write b2b b2c it does matter I could write to them all I can
write the email you landing pages you try to be everything to everyone a jack
of all trades master of none when you're getting started it's much better to
focus on one sector one industry something that you're passionate about
something that you have an interest in example let's say if you'd like to an exercise that you're interested in health, while focus on that just the fitness
niche even within the finished niche that is such a broad topic a broad
industry and you just focus on you know what I like just to focus on the
muscle-building part of them just to help a woman to lose weight or diet plan
from the age of thirty to forty-five I mean the deaths of Pacific choose one
thing because longer
you in it the more insights you'll get the more you understand your target
market this way when a company hires you you would have insights that you could
bring to the table and say hey you know what I've been selling to
this industry for X amount of years for X amount of months I know what these
customers want to see there is something that you could bring to the table
that's very very valuable as a copywriter so focus on one industry to start off
with once you get better you could diversify maybe two or three within the same
category but I recommend stick with one market tip number two on how to become
a copywriter and that makes it easy for your prospects to say yes you see most
copywriters, I don't know why some of them are just they have such a big evil
that if you like they haven't done a lot but do you feel like all I'm I'm so
special then look at me I'm a copywriter so pay me all this money they ask for
outrageous fees without a lot of track record to back up whatever if the fees
that they are charging instead of doing that what I did in my early The 20s I
call that do or die copywriting meaning I would approach prospects and say hey
you know what I know you now we've never worked together I know what I could do
I looked at your campaign I look at your marketing I look at your letters I
look at whatever that you're doing right now and I believe I could produce more
results for you I'm not here to be an expense for you I'm here to be a revenue the generator I want whatever you pay me pays for itself that the minute the day
that you use what I roll for you it would pay for itself so here's what I'm
gonna do I'm gonna take a look at your marketing maybe it's a letter maybe it's
direct mail maybe it's a campaign maybe it's a page it doesn't matter I said
let me rewrite that for you let me write that for if you don't like it don't
pay me if you like it and you use it then pay me X that's it. I made them an
offer that they cannot refuse is that simple now listen did I have some clients
and prospects who advantage of me who actually liked my stuff and didn't pay me
absolutely I got a couple of those but I wasn't working I wasn't busy anyways
all practice is okay right but as a result, I'm able to get clients and se out
of those, some would say hey this is great work I'm more than happy to hire you,
in fact,

I want to hire you on a retainer basis so you could write for us on an
on a monthly basis that's how I got started nothing fancy because I made it
easy for the prospects to say yes tip number three and that is earned while you
learn you see unlike a traditional education unlike other professions what do
you have to do tell me to comment below what have to do you go through four
years of college whatever profession maybe five years of college right you go
through that, you borrow the money you're getting to get student loan then by
the time you graduate now you're in debt right you borrow money now you start
earning you get that job that you kind of want but you're still not earning yet
because all the debt that you've accumulated in school now you got to pay those
off only after you pay those off who knows how many years it would take then
you start earning well cooperating it's not like that's not what I did when I
was working for my mentor Alan within a year of learning from him even when I
was learning from him I didn't get paid a whole lot but I was earning some as soon
as I was taking on the client I was earning while I was learning because of you
see copywriting it's not something that you just read from a book you could
learn something from it but you learn by doing you learn by actually getting
started you learn by writing working with clients seeing what works in the
marketplace and then you will get inside you will get data, hey you know what
when I write this way it gets this kind of response when I write that way it
doesn't get that kind of response see that's something that no one could take
away from you, that is valuable because that's your experience but you won't get
there until you're working with people so you can earn while you learn you
don't have to wait till four years and then all my goodness now you can start
earning no you're earning and then longer you in it the more you're gonna earn
the more people would pay you and they're smarter than you get that's exactly
how it works so in order to become a good copywriter you gotta make a decision
that this is a skill that you're gonna master no matter what it's not gonna be
overnight but at the same time it doesn't take as long as you might think about what you
need to do is to dedicate yourself and say and make a decision to make a decision
that you want to become the best copywriter that you could be knowing in your
chosen market not for everybody but just in your chosen market and that's it
